well what was there? wheres banksy or banksy like work? i dont get it..
I am going to remove the question mark, but if you dig just a little you could answer this question for yourself! Go to Banksy website and he states that the images all around New Orleans are in fact his work! Also if you go to nola.com there is also a video piece about the images!
Thanks for the nudge, William. The work displayed on his site is quite compelling. As localized as the tags are, however, I wonder about their effectiveness: need those people seen walking in the photographs be reminded yet again of what's gone done and what's still going down? In that sense, your posting seems even more fitting, spreading the awareness just a little bit further, another ripple through the pond. And to that end, Banksy's own site, replete with those quite revealing quotations, is in many ways just as much the medium and the message of his work. Or maybe I'm wrong. Whatever the case, thanks again.
The attention Banksy offers New Orleans is good and appreciated but if you are going to comment about local politics, you have got to get it right! It was interesting that Banksy was also attacking the guy who goes around town painting over all grafitti with the same gray paint color! I think that reaction is as wrong a response as the vandalism of tagging! Lastly, if some can figure out how to perserve the Banksy work, they could make a few bucks at auction!
