Anonymous Finger Pointing

John Telling pointing at Royal Ascot, London UK 2006 from UKOK series.

I really did not want to believe this was true, but it appears that Corp. of Engineers employees in New Orleans, have been anonymously trying to blame ordinary citizens for the levees and it’s failures! A little sleuthing from www.levees. org , Sandy Rosenthal , uncovered the anonymous finger pointing!

I get these weird and strange random emails almost daily, such as the example above. Is it possible "Frank" looked at my website, had seen the Barber Pole image, and assumed I was selling them?

BEHIND BARS

Fence Section, Baton Rouge LA 2007 from Baton Rouge Blues

2,300,000 people are behind bars in the United States. Louisiana accounts for approx. 37,969 of those inmates, the most per capita of any state! 30% of these are jailed for drug related convictions. It costs $20,000. per person annually to incarcerate these people.

I think maybe it's time to think about more effective punishments and treatment for non-violent offenders! Jail should be reserved for the violent and dangerous ones.

It's Winter in America

Snow in Field, Baton Rouge LA 12/2008

And now it's winter
Winter in America
Yes and all of the healers have been killed
Or sent away, yeah
But the people know, the people know
It's winter
Winter in America
And ain't nobody fighting
'Cause nobody knows what to say
Save your soul, Lord knows
From Winter in America*

* Excerpt from the Gil Scott-Heron song Winter in America

Years ago, I spent some time with Gil. He seemed a sad man, maybe even bitter? I thought of him today, maybe because it was snowing here, here in South Louisiana. And I thought what strange times indeed?
We have a reformist Republican Governor of Indian descent doing a great job here. And we are on the verge of a new and exciting era as a nation with an African-American soon to be President. So , I thought its a cold , strange Winter day , but I can already feel Spring on the way. It's Winter in America.

Guns are in the news everywhere and everyday! I am not just talking about the armed robberies and murders either. I am talking about all the accidents involving guns! If people followed my gun rules, the world would be a little bit safer. What are they? #1 Always treat a gun as though it were loaded. #2 Never point a gun at someone unless you plan on shooting them . #3 Never shoot at anyone unless you are planning on killing them.
