BEHIND BARS

2,300,000 people are behind bars in the United States. Louisiana accounts for approx. 37,969 of those inmates, the most per capita of any state! 30% of these are jailed for drug related convictions. It costs $20,000. per person annually to incarcerate these people.

I think maybe it's time to think about more effective punishments and treatment for non-violent offenders! Jail should be reserved for the violent and dangerous ones.
