John Szarkowski, Curator of Photography, Dies at 81!
John was probably the most influential photography curator of our times. He was one of the first museum curator's to embrace my work - purchase it , exhibit it and give me , in the process , a sense I was doing something relavent! And for that, I am forever indebted to him.
John will be missed by many. Thank you John Szarkowski and good bye.

This is a great photo & apt tribute to Szarkowski. I never met him, but wrote about him anyway.

He spoke at a SECCA conference in NOLA in 84 or 85. I met Szarkowski and many other NOLA photographers at the William Eggleston exhibition that opened that weekend. Were you there? It was quite a weekend.
