Sportsman's Paradise

Louisiana Marsh 2005

One reason Louisiana is known as Sportsman's Paradise is because of the abundance of fishing opportunities.

However, seeing the pollution in the Gulf and the subsequent pollution of the marshes and coastline,
I fear paradise may be lost.

MESSAGES TO GOD

Messages to God, Grand Isle LA 1997

The pictures of crude oil gushing out of that pipe.
The oil slick which shines for miles on the surface of the Gulf.
The tar balls rolling up on shore.
The sea turtles and pelicans tarred without feathers.
Please, please, make it all go away!

As You are Now

Reading, Rosemary Beach FL 2009

I will take up all your tears
Salty tissues through the years
Spread them in the sun to dry
Diamonds from each time you cry

I will treasure all your teeth
Your laughter and the pearls beneath
Keep them in a cardboard box
Through the tickings and the tocks

I will gather all your hair
Floating in the sultry air
We will make a braid of gold
For you to keep when you are old

Now I kiss your milky skin
Sheet of silk and soul within
Put this kiss upon your brow
Treasure you as you are now

As You are Now (2007)
